#What We Create: Blaze Family

Blaze family, known as @ourfamilyadventures on Instagram with over 100,000 followers, loved and have traveled the world with many memories. We were excited to know their colorful experience and opinions about travel and outdoor activities!

Here's our interview:

Hi, we've followed you on social media, but please introduce yourself to everyone, especially new friends.

We are the Blaze family! I’m Tiffany, and my husband is Jacob. We have 3 kids: Taylor (23), Ocea (7), and Cedar (5). We typically travel 4-5 months of the year, but our home base is in Franklin, TN.

What countries and cities have you been to? Which place do you like best and why?

As of this month, we have been to 48 states with our two littles. We just took them to Minnesota, and we loved it so much we are already planning our next trip back. My husband and I have been to several countries individually, but we’ve taken the little ones to Canada, Iceland, and Mexico so far. We are dying to get them to Ireland because that’s been our absolute favorite.

What made you want to take a camera to record your life and post them on social media?

I naturally love taking videos of my kids to have when they’re older. Combine that with a love of photography, and that’s how we ended up here. It’s also been really fun to share our story and remind others that it is possible to travel with kids. It’s actually super enjoyable!

What does outdoor life mean to you? What is the most memorable time you spent outdoors?

We believe an outdoor life is a life well-lived. From the fresh air to the scenic views, it’s a perfect place for our children to explore God’s creation. I’d have to say one of our most memorable days would be the day we took a boat out on Lake Powell. I remember our whole family being in awe the entire time.

Why Is My Hammock Uncomfortable?

(Tips for a Relaxing Hammock Experience)

Hammocks are a great way to relax and unwind, but if you're finding that your hammock is uncomfortable, it can really ruin the experience. There are a number of reasons why your hammock might be uncomfortable, from incorrect setup to poor quality materials. In this article, we'll take a look at some of the most common reasons why hammocks can be uncomfortable, and offer tips and solutions for a more relaxing hammock experience.

Incorrect Hammock Setup

One of the most common reasons for an uncomfortable hammock experience is incorrect setup. If your hammock is too tight or too loose, you may find yourself feeling uncomfortable, as your body isn't properly supported. A tightly-strung hammock can put pressure on your back and shoulders, while a loose hammock can cause you to sink in and feel unstable.

Solution: When setting up your hammock, make sure to follow the instructions carefully. The ideal tension for a hammock is a slight sag in the middle, which will provide both comfort and stability. Use a tape measure to ensure that the hammock is hung at the correct distance apart, and adjust the height and angle until it feels just right.

Poor Quality Materials

Another reason why your hammock may be uncomfortable is due to poor quality materials. If your hammock is made from cheap or low-quality fabric, it may not provide the necessary support and cushioning, and can even cause skin irritation.

Solution: When shopping for a hammock, make sure to choose one made from high-quality materials, such as cotton or polyester. These materials are durable, comfortable, and provide good support for your body. Look for hammocks with a high thread count and reinforced stitching, as these are signs of good quality.

Lack of Support

If you're using a hammock without a stand, you may find that it's uncomfortable because of a lack of support. Without a stand, a hammock can easily sag or tilt to one side, making it difficult to get comfortable.

Solution: If you don't have a stand, consider investing in one. A good quality stand will provide the necessary support and stability for your hammock, allowing you to relax comfortably without any tilting or sagging.

Incorrect Sleeping Position

Hammocks are great for lounging and relaxing, but if you're using your hammock to sleep in, you may find it uncomfortable. Sleeping in a hammock requires a slightly different position than sleeping in a bed, and if you're not in the right position, you may find yourself tossing and turning all night.

Solution: When sleeping in a hammock, make sure to lie diagonally across it, rather than straight down the middle. This will provide better support for your body, and help prevent any sagging or tilting. You can also try using a pillow or rolled-up towel under your knees for added comfort.

Temperature

If you're using your hammock in extreme temperatures, it can be uncomfortable. In hot weather, a hammock can become sticky and sweaty, while in cold weather, it can be difficult to stay warm.

Solution: If you're using your hammock in hot weather, try using a breathable fabric, such as cotton or sling, which will help to keep you cool. You can also use a fan or umbrella to provide shade and a cool breeze. In cold weather, try using a warm blanket or sleeping bag, and consider using a hammock sock to help retain heat.

Overcrowding

If you're sharing your hammock with someone else, or if you're using a hammock that's too small for your body, you may find it uncomfortable. Overcrowding can cause the hammock to sag or tilt, and can put pressure. You can try using a double hammock for added space and comfort.

We've looked at the reasons why some hammocks make you feel uncomfortable. But did you know that there are many benefits to proper use of hammocks?

From improving sleep quality to reducing stress, the benefits of hammocks go beyond just relaxation. Here we go!

Improved Sleep Quality

One of the most significant benefits of using a hammock is improved sleep quality. Unlike traditional beds, hammocks provide a unique sleeping experience that can help promote deeper, more restful sleep. The gentle rocking motion of a hammock can help lull you into a deeper sleep, which can lead to improved overall health and well-being.

Reduced Stress

Stress is a common problem that affects millions of people worldwide. Fortunately, hammocks can help reduce stress levels and promote relaxation. The gentle swaying motion of a hammock can help calm the mind and body, reducing tension and promoting a sense of calm. Studies have shown that spending time in a hammock can even help lower cortisol levels, a hormone associated with stress.

Improved Posture

Another benefit of using a hammock is improved posture. Hammocks provide a unique way of resting that allows the body to relax and stretch in a natural way. This can help relieve pressure on the spine and promote better alignment, leading to improved posture over time.

Pain Relief

Hammocks can also be beneficial for those suffering from chronic pain, such as back pain or arthritis. The gentle rocking motion of a hammock can help soothe sore muscles and reduce inflammation, providing temporary relief from pain. Additionally, hammocks can help reduce pressure points, providing a more comfortable resting experience for those with chronic pain conditions.

Enhanced Concentration and Productivity

Proper use of a hammock can also enhance concentration and productivity. Studies have shown that spending time in a hammock can help improve cognitive function, including memory and attention span. This can lead to increased productivity and a greater ability to focus on tasks.

Improved Circulation

Hammocks can also help improve circulation throughout the body. Unlike traditional beds, hammocks do not have a rigid surface that can compress blood vessels and restrict blood flow. Instead, hammocks provide a gentle and natural way of resting that allows for proper blood flow throughout the body. This can lead to improved circulation and overall health.

Reduced Pressure Points

Pressure points are a common problem that can cause discomfort and pain while sleeping. Fortunately, hammocks provide a unique sleeping experience that can help reduce pressure points. Because hammocks conform to the shape of the body, they distribute weight evenly, reducing pressure on specific areas of the body. This can lead to a more comfortable and restful sleep.

Versatility

Finally, hammocks are incredibly versatile, providing a comfortable resting place in a variety of settings. From backyards to camping trips, hammocks can be used almost anywhere, making them a convenient and practical choice for those who love spending time outdoors. Additionally, hammocks come in a variety of sizes and styles, making it easy to find one that meets your specific needs and preferences.

In conclusion, the benefits of proper use of hammocks are numerous and diverse. From improved sleep quality to reduced stress and pain relief, hammocks offer a unique and natural way of resting that can promote overall health and well-being. So whether you're looking for a more comfortable sleeping experience or just a relaxing way to spend an afternoon, a hammock may be just what you need to improve your quality of life.

Hammocks have been around for centuries, providing a comfortable and relaxing way to rest and unwind. They are a popular choice for outdoor enthusiasts and can be found in backyards, parks, and even on camping trips. So why not take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life and spend some time in a hammock? Your body and mind will thank you!

When was your last backyard makeover? What updates did you make?

We are actually working on that now since we recently moved. I love creating an inviting space that says, “Psst, it’s more fun out here than inside.” I want my family and friends to want to hang outdoors when they visit.

What originally made you want a hammock? Why did you finally choose SUNCREAT?

I really enjoy snuggling up with the kids and reading books to them. We also love finding shapes and pictures in the clouds. It’s one of my favorite memories from my childhood, and I want to share that experience with them. I did some research on hammocks and loved the SUNCREAT’s reviews and styles. We are loving our hammock and so happy with our choice.

When do you find yourself using the hammock most often? Weekend or weekday? At your leisure or after a busy day?

Our absolute favorite time to lie in the hammock is just before dinner time. I take each child out individually for a one-on-one, and we lie in in it searching the clouds and chatting about their favorite part of the day. They almost always say, “right now.”
