#What We Create: Simona

Today, we’re honored to sit down with Simona — a creator whose life off-grid in rural Arizona is rooted in simplicity, faith, and a deep connection to nature. In this conversation, Simona opens up about the joys and challenges of off-grid living, the power of natural light, and how her home is a reflection of both her values and her journey. Let’s step into her world.

Here's our interview:

1.You live a life that leans toward off-grid and homesteading. What is a typical day like for you, from morning to evening? What small rituals or habits keep you grounded and motivated?”

A typical day in my life starts with prayer and gratitude. My faith in Jesus is what keeps me motivated grounded and very thankful for all that we have after my morning. Talk with God I get up and feed my dog Judah! I then go out to tend to all 13 of my trees. I water them all and it takes me about an hour and a half Every time I water. I then make breakfast for myself and I go out and relax on my Suncreat hammock and start planning on what task I need to complete on our Homestead for the day. There’s always something to work on and to keep me busy!

2.Living off-grid or doing self-sustaining projects often comes with unforeseen challenges. Can you share a moment when things didn’t go as planned, and how you responded or adapted?

To be honest, living off grid lots of things go wrong and not as planned lol! Something always breaks something always stops working some wild animal always eats at your garden or your trees. It’s always something! It can be very frustrating, but you have to figure it out on your own for the most part. The worst time for me was when I first got solar, and when it was all installed, the people left after they completed the job I went in the house to turn on the stove and it shut my entire solar system down. I didn’t know at the time that solar doesn’t like heating mechanisms. I cried and yelled and felt so defeated because everything was going wrong that day. The installer was so kind enough to come back and reset everything for me. It hasn’t happened since now I know more about solar and how it works!

3.Your content often blends natural scenery, raw materials, and simple design. How important is nature in your sense of aesthetics? When you're choosing a space or decor, how do you let nature guide you (light, texture, climate)?”

I love working with natural lighting. This is why we have 7 x 5‘ windows. They are huge! It’s just something about natural light that puts me into a happier mood! I love it!

4. As someone who documents this journey, what message do you most hope your audience takes away from your life? Is there a reminder, value, or invitation you wish to give your viewers?

I would hope that people are inspired and encouraged after watching my videos. I try to always place an encouraging faith based message in my videos. I want my viewers to know that with God all things are possible if you believe! Me and my husband do not have any construction skills. We’ve never built anything before, but we trust that God will help us every step of the way and He has! We have come so far within two years of being here in rural Arizona off grid!

A heartfelt thank you to Simona for sharing her world with us. Her story is a powerful reminder that a meaningful life doesn’t require perfection — just faith, perseverance, and a willingness to keep showing up every day.
